Abstract

ABSTRACT

Background. Burkitt's lymphoma is a rare and aggressive tumor that constitutes less than 5% of lymphomas. Intussusception is rare in adults, accounting for only 5% of occlusions.

Case presentation. We present the case of a 33-year-old man with an ileocecal intussusception due to Burkitt's lymphoma. The rarity of this form of presentation is highlighted and a review is made of the current diagnosis and treatment.

Conclusions. Intussusception due to Burkitt's lymphoma is an entity to consider in the differential diagnosis of intestinal obstruction in adults, although it is an extraordinarily rare finding.

Key words: Burkitt's lymphoma, intussusception, bowel obstruction.
